Responsible for ensuring the best cost-benefit relationship for all indirect materials and professional services used in business operations and logistics processes contracted by Festo Corporation in North America. The role is responsible for the maintenance and execution of purchasing procedures in all categories of indirect materials and professional services, such as freight contracts, packaging, fleet management, IT, office materials, marketing and communications, among others - Responsible for achieving regional cost-out objectives for recurring spend of non-production materials, services, as well first time and “one-off” service contracts.

  • Develops and maintains relationship with suppliers, vendors and contractors located in the U.S., Mexico and Canada
  • Manages purchasing activities to maintain integrity of the process and minimize total costs
  • Create savings when possible
  • Evaluates purchasing requirements, market conditions and price trends
  • Responsible for attending and following up on Internal / External Audits
  • Coordinate annual price negotiations with providers
  • Review specifications in purchase requisitions to ensure the process covers all requirements
  • Advise internal customers about offers, and connect them to the best possible vendor or contractor
  • Coordinate annual plan of recurring purchases to guarantee continuity of services and supplies
  • Understand the needs of internal customers and propose alternatives that meet basic requirements
  • Anticipate most common problems presented with services and product providers
  • Review and renegotiate contracts (commercial terms and conditions) with vendors, suppliers, professional service firms and technology providers (example: Hotels, Contractors, Freight Carriers, Advertising Companies, IT Hardware and Software, etc.)
  • Development and implementation of policies and procedures dictated by the North American Business Region – NAM-BR and HQ, as well as national adaptations for ISO compliance
  • Communication with internal customers, who request materials or services, to define the details of the requirements.
  • Influence the Management team to obtain authorizations on critical purchase orders.
  • Daily communication with suppliers to request quotes, delivery times and payment conditions.
  • Communication with F-HQ to ensure compliance
  • Regional procurement leader for sourcing, negotiations, supplier audits, spend management and project rollouts
  • Coach, lead, evaluate and develop own team and drive it towards target achievement – Build and develop own team
  • Responsible, together with HR, for staff recruitment, training and development, etc. in the area of responsibility.
  • Good business acumen and leadership skills: Build relationships, results oriented, present and visible [internal/external]
  • Execution of Agreements on time, on quality and on budget. Savings defined by the Region and by HQ
  • Coordinate the evaluation of key suppliers, professional service firms and technology providers
  • Keep supplier records up-to-date

Experience and Skills:

  • BS Degree in Business,  Supply-Chain, Engineering, Finance, Accounting and/or Law
  • 5-7 years of relevant business experience necessary.
  • Conducts business in English and Spanish
  • Knowledge in Contract Development and Contract Management, Strategic Sourcing and Negotiations, Project Management, Team Building and Development, Budgeting, Business Process Improvement and ISO standards
