The Quality Engineer will support Quality Assurance activities for for enhancement of the Quality Systems; Quality metrics tracking & improvement activities, control of inspection and measuring test equipment, control & analysis of nonconforming material, internal audits, corrective/preventative actions, and preparation for external audits,  supplier SCARs and site specific supplier performance assessment.  Liaison regarding value steam related quality topics to other Festo departments, management, and key customers.

 

Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Performs timely failure analysis investigations of customer returned material to determine probable causes or modes of failure using complete 8-D methodology.  Facilitate rework or repair activities.
  • Reviews inspection data from incoming parts,  initiation of SCARs with vendors, supporting Festo supplier quality assurance ( SQA) and supplier development (SQD) regarding issues with purchased parts in the value stream.
  • Oversight of gage calibration process for value stream.
  • Acts as Quality Assurance representative with both Festo internal departments and the customer on new product developments and product failures ( and conducts necessary analysis).
  • Supports failure modes effects analysis FMEA and control plan activities for new product developments.
  • Within scope, prepares quality system documents including operating procedures, work instructions, charts, visual aids, inspection drawings and reports.
  • Identifies negative quality trends and,  working with process owners, initiates appropriate corrective/preventative actions.
  • Assures a timely response and feedback to the resolution of quality issues to management and/or the customer as appropriate. These tasks will frequently involve the preparation of presentations is various media ( PowerPoint, supplier portals, word, excel, SAP,  etc.) as needed to effectively communicate the relevant topics.  
  •  Additional work hours in excess of normal business hours may be necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities.  This includes extra efforts required for infrequent or short duration.
  • Travel may be required via any mode of transportation as determined by Company for business reasons such as, but not limited to, skill development, training, or a company business event.  This would include travel to Corporate Headquarters/Regional(field) offices.

Experience and Skills:

The successful candidate will possess the following core dimensions: 

  • Experienced & well-rounded in areas of Data Analysis, Process Improvement, Strategic Communication, Quality Engineering & Operational Excellence
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that quality standards are met during production.
  • Development of testing of processes and procedures, and conducting analysis on the resulting  data,  to  assure the Quality & Reliability of the products produced.  
  • BS Technology degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.  BSME/ EE preferred.  Bachelor’s Degree/ MBA preferred
  • 5 years experience in Quality Assurance; electronic/light assembly environment preferred
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 requirements and electrical light assembly
