The Electrical Engineer provides planning and execution of electrical systems (schematic capture, layout), testing/verification to ensure that Festo products meet the customer expectations.  Together with your experienced teammates, you will develop complex software solutions for biotechnological or diagnostic applications in the field of laboratory automation and robotics. The interdisciplinary exchange with specialists from the areas of embedded software, hardware, in conjunction with verification and product management ensures that you will master tricky challenges. It goes without saying that you develop in an agile environment.

  • Development of hardware for embedded systems, which are used in the medical technology and laboratory automation industries.
  • Design and analysis of digital and analog circuits with hardware/software verification.
  • Advanced Schematic capture, PCB Layout through production for prototype devices.
  • Development of internal component testing and ICT testing. Assure a high standard of quality in your own work and in the work of others on your team via good electrical practices, process improvements, clean designs, smart testing and review practices.
  • Work with cross disciplinary teams of mechanical, electrical, software, biomedical and testing engineers.
  • Interact with a global engineering team coving Germany, USA, and Bulgaria.
  • Troubleshoot and debug products in production and service as required.
  • Perform documentation, unit test plans, and quality analysis.

Experience and Skills:

  • Above average Bachelor or Master of Science' degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or Physics with focus on embedded systems is required.
  • 2-10+ years of experience in electrical and system level design.
  • Strong interest in sensors and sensing technologies.
  • Experience working with 3rd party partners, prototyping & evaluating solutions, and developing products.
  • Shows extreme ownership for assigned projects and tasks and is able to work autonomously to deliver results.
  • Has strong Bias for Action and can work autonomously with little supervision.
  • Expert in schematic entry, layout tools and design for manufacturability (familiarity with OrCAD Capture and Cadence Allegro tool flow is a plus).
  • Experience designing high volume printed circuit boards with design-for-cost targets.
  • Experience designing complex schematics containing analog and digital electronics including boards with FPGA’s, microcontrollers or microprocessors.
  • Experience with mixed signal designs.
  • Experience with serial communication interfaces (CAN, SPI, RS232, Ethernet, USB, etc.).
  • Proficient with PSPICE for analog circuit simulation.
  • Experience executing design reviews in front of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Familiar with PCB layout design and best practices.
  • Comfortable debugging existing designs.
  • Demonstrated strong ability to move seamlessly between levels of abstraction – from system to the “nuts and bolts” implementation.
  • Extensive system design interfacing to a wide array of electro-mechanical subsystems and debugging experience.
  • Commitment to rigorous testing practices and design process flows.
  • Problem solver, “can do”, “get any task done” attitude.

  • Excellent written (white papers) and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to support domestic and international travel as required by the program.
