Job Description:

  • Designing AC & DC Power distribution design for industrial equipment such as semiconductor and display
  • Design of Interconnects for Servo Systems.  Includes: Sensors, Limits, I/O, Motors & Encoders, Braking Systems, and Communication Bus.
  • Design of PLC Control System including Local and Distributed I/O.  I/O Breakouts for Switches, Sensors, and Relays/Solenoids/Actuators.
  • Design of Communication Buses such as: CANOpen, DeviceNet, ProfiBus, and EtherNet Topology.
  • Design of Robotic Control Systems including High-Flex Cable Carriers and Manual Pendant.
  • Design of Power Distribution Systems for Low to Medium Voltage Industrial Equipment.
  • Design of E-Stop and Safety Circuits, Familiar with Safety Relay Function and Selection, Temperature Control Circuit Design, Circuit Breaker Sizing, Shunt-Trip Circuits, Motor Overloads and Motor Contactors.
  • Layout of Electrical Components in Enclosures (Panel Layout) for optimal Wire and Cable routing of Automation and Industrial Power Distribution equipment.
  • Test and Troubleshoot Machine Control components (pneumatics, I/O (digital and analogue), Distributed I/O, Temperature Control).
  • Supports Commissioning of Equipment both in-house and in the Field.
  • Collaborates with Software Development Engineers on Controls Platform Feasibility and Functionality.
  • Designs and Develops controls architecture solution for various machine control applications.
  • Responsible for Creation and Maintaining the System I/O List.
  • Designs I/O Control of Machine or System Functions with either Local I/O or Remote I/O over Communication Buss.
  • Executes Feasibility tests to prove concept theory
  • Creates Customer Specific Documentation for Machine Operation and Integration
  • Must be available for up to 10% travel, possible international travel required
  • Interacts with Customers and Business Development to help with Machine Control Specifications.
  • Represents Festo to Customers.
  • Mentors/Trains Operators and Technicians on Functionality of Machine Control.
  • Directs Technicians and other Support Personnel (both Festo and Third Party) on Projects Tasks.



Experience and Skills:

  • BSEE or Equivalent.
  • 5 years Previous Automation and Power Distribution Design for Industrial Equipment Necessary.
  • Knowledge of E-Stop and safety circuitry, safety relays, temperature controllers, circuit breaker sizing, shunt-trips, overloads, and contactors.
  • Experience with layout of electrical components in enclosures for optimal wire and cable routing (Panel Layout) for power distribution and automation industries.
  • Required to be familiar with NEC, NFPA-79, SEMI, and UL508A Industry Standards and to interface with customers during design phase.
