Job Description:

Responsible for product design and fulfillment of product specifications according Festo NEP development process for global products within the liquid handling market; develop innovative and cost-effective designs for manufacturing products that can be scaled up for cost reduction and high volume production; carry ideas and projects from early concept all the way through manufacturing; perform detailed project planning and documentation of each product development phase; build and test prototype designs for proof of concept; develop solutions to design problems through application of engineering principles and empirical methods; solicit design input from physicians, marketing and other stakeholders to develop new concepts; utilize the change management process to manage documentation and product changes. This position is based in Billerica, Massachusetts.

 

 

Experience and Skills:

  • Required:  Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and three years of experience as a Product Development Engineer for Global Products (Liquid Handling).  In addition, the following specific skills or requirements are required:

    • 3 years of experience with computer modeling techniques;
    • 3 years of experience with polymeric materials and manufacturing techniques, specifically injection molding, extrusion and diffusion bonding;
    • 3 years of experience with factory automation technology, liquid handling systems and fluid dynamics;
    • 3 years of experience with manufacturing and process development activities such as qualification, validation, design of experiments, FMEA and design for manufacturing;
    • 3 years of experience with technology concepts, technical standards and methodologies in liquid handling, factory automation;
    • Domestic and/or international travel required 10% of the time; and,
    • Background check and/or pre-employment drug screening is required.
