Job Description:

  • Lead, mentor and build a mechanical engineering team capable of developing and delivering an electromechanical system, which meets laboratory automation standards

  • Directs mechanical engineering team and interact with software and controls, testing and electrical design teams to output high-quality products

  • Develop and document new products for laboratory automation under corporate quality management systems, policies and procedures.

  • Reviews technical product specifications and requirements and ensure mechanical designs meet product specifications

  • Contributes to the development milestones and devises robust and efficient plans for execution of development and testing

  • Continuous monitoring and controlling of the planned project and production costs for new product developments

  • Participate in design reviews that include ME, EE and SW engineers and ensure high quality design reviews with excellent documentation

  • Manage all necessary investigative work pertinent to designs including feasibility studies, research, and design of experiments to prove out product concepts

  • Review/analyze whether current products and processes comply with industry standards such as ISO 13485, and corporate Regulations and standards –including being audited to verify the quality of completed projects

  • Set expectations for performance, coach and manage for excellence, and develop future leaders

  • Monitor and evaluate new and emerging technologies in life science/ laboratory automation

Experience and Skills:

  • Above average B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or similar required with automation/ life science industry experience

  • 5-10+ years' experience while holding engineering leadership roles within the automation/ life science industry

  • Proven track record of launching complex automation projects involving multinational/multicultural R&D teams

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment

  • Analytical, creative thinker, ability to solve problems.

  • Experience with the design and prototyping of parts/assemblies using CAD systems

  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as 3D printing, machining, injection molding, etc.

  • Experience working in a regulated environment (ISO/ FDA).

  • Can show proven success in an atmosphere with varying amounts of ambiguity, but still able to set and deliver on plans with proven processes.

  • Excellent communication and collaborative experience with global cross functional teams.

  • Effective organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to drive consensus at levels (parallel, upwards, and downwards) in a complex organization, and drive execution based on decision.

  • Highly self-motivated and energetic. Able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Goal oriented methods of work, overall mindset of moving company forward.

  • Require up to 25% travel, including international
