Job Description:

  • Analyzes equipment and/or application specifications and performance requirements to determine design feasibility and manufacturability of customer solution systems to satisfy customer requirements, discusses possible solution with customer; based on the customer application requirements, develops conceptual designs including selection of technology, sizing and component selection and generation of 3D concept drawings; communicates with sales team to provide comprehensive overview of the proposed solutions including details of features and benefits; generates BOM for quick budgetary estimates, system proposals and detail system costing for proposed solutions; prepares quick estimation documents and full system proposals for CS projects, as well as customer presentations; manage CS projects from inquiry to quotation; may confer with Research and Development personnel or Design Group Department personnel at Festo-AG to clarify or resolve problems in order to develop concept designs; conducts quotation follow-up in alignment with Sales Engineer; reviews the order / contract to ensure that the order matches the quotation; coordinates with the design engineers, CS and production personnel to review details of the proposed solution and supports CS Department during design process; and, ensures that all designs and concepts are based on sound engineering principles as well as economic principles. This position is based in Mason, Ohio.

Experience and Skills:

  • Required:  Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 6 years experience as a Mechatronic Applications EngineerIn addition, the following specific skills are required: 

    • 3 years experience with fluid power and electric automation components
    • 3 years experience with CAD including 3D CAD software
    • 3 years experience Medical, Automotive, Semi, Food & Packaging
    • 3 years experience with MS-Office, MS Project, SAP, SFA
    • 3 years experience in PLC, HMI, motion and vision. Programming skills
    • 3 years experience in computer aided Design
    • 3 years experience in design and implementation of electric/electronic pneumatic control systems
    • Approximately 20% domestic and international travel required.
