Job Description:

Mission & Purpose: The Director of Operations is responsible for the direction, planning and organization of strategies, activities, budget and staffing of all established value streams within the RSC Mason.

 

Director of Operations manages, assists with managing various production activities (e.g., assembly, material forming/shaping, processing, treating, or packaging, etc.) including:

 

  • Planning, directing, and monitoring production to meet established specifications, schedules, volume/cost/wastage targets, and quality standards

  • Liaising with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply & Logistics, Sales, etc. as input to developing production schedules and allocating labor/capital resources

  • Planning, prioritizing, and managing production line maintenance/downtime to minimize disruptions

  • Festo experience is helpful in terms of Operational Excellence (OPEX) approach and methods, as well as for the global Festo production network. 

  • Prepares, together and with the support of COO/VP of Operations, the yearly budget for all operations/production related to head count, projects, expenses and direct/indirect material costs.

  • Leads projects for improvements (including analysis of data, processes and other related type of studies) to continuously improve results and help the organization to meet the strategic and operational objectives.

  • Facilitates the most efficient methods and processes relate to staffing, equipment, labor and machine capacities, tooling, work stations, stock definitions and strategies.

  • Oversees the operations and ensures that these are executed according to best practices and with the overall commitment with operational efficiency and competitive deliveries (delivery reliability and competitive cost structure).

  • Establishes, prepares, implements, revises and maintains policies and procedures related to Operations and/or Company, in collaboration with other Directors/Management Team, as required.

  • Facilitates new equipment, methods and processes to improve results

  • Researches and implements best practices to improve operational efficiencies and deliveries.

  • Identifies trends in technology, investigates and installs most effective methods of operations to keep company at competitive edge at all times.

 

The Director of Operations leads a team of experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments.

Responsibilities typically include:

  • Policy and strategy implementation for short-term results (1 year and mid-term-3 years)

  • Problems faced are difficult to moderately complex.

  • Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures.

  • Communicates (and cascades) KPIs to the organization, insuring that the corresponding departmental managers and key personnel, understand them and are aligned in their personal objectives to the organizational goals.

  • Acts as coach and mentor, as well as providing guidance to management team and employees, contributing to the professional development of the personnel. As part of this responsibility, carries out the appraisals and training & career plans of direct reports.

  • Responsible for hiring and firing decisions; conflict resolution skills are critical

  • Responsible for target setting for all operational KPI’s and expected performance.

  • Responsible for effective staffing, recruiting and creating a culture of accountability for his/her areas of excellence.

  • Responsible for effective development of key talent and all other individual contributors within the scope of this role.

  • Key contributor for Talent Conferences/Succession Planning for the future growth of Mason RSC.

  • Collaborates with HR and other department Heads to successfully achieve these leadership expectations.

Experience and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree Industrial Engineering or Industrial Management, Master's degree (M. A.) preferred and 5-7 years of experience required in the following areas:

 

  • Industrial /mechanical/electrical industry experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with financial reports – balance sheet and income statement
  • Exposure to Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  • 6 years or more in management leadership position in operations related area, with responsibility over more than 1 department.
  • English fluent, (Spanish or Germany are a plus desirable), outstanding written and oral expression
  • MS-Office 365, SAP
