Job Description:

Summary

Under the direction of the Sales Manager, provides a broad scope of customer service with an advanced technical background. This includes hardware problem diagnosis, LAN connectivity support, Festo LMS and hosted applications support, FACET hardware, PLC’s, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, EMS, and elearning support as well as questions concerning a variety of Festo equipment platforms

  • Supporting customers, sales team and in-house staff on technical issues/problems.
  • Taking ownership of customer issues reported and seeing problems through to resolution.
  • Researching, diagnosing, troubleshooting and identifying solutions to resolve system issues.
  • Following standard procedures for proper escalation of unresolved issues to the appropriate internal teams.

 Travel

Travel may or may not be required in the U.S. or out of the county and some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Assists customer, either by telephone, fax, email, DI, or on site, with installation of software, hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers and disk drives on user’s premises.
  • Responds to client inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnosis system hardware, software, and operator problems.
  • Talk customers through a series of actions, either via phone, email or chat, until they’ve solved a technical issue
  • Instructs users in use of equipment, software and manuals
  • Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems.
  • Follows through with development staff, product testing, and product support or repair depot to make sure that customer problem is resolved.
  • Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, written reports, email, or in-person.
  • Replaces defective or inadequate software packages.
  • Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.
  • Prioritize and manage several open issues at one time
  • Follow up with customers to ensure their IT systems are fully functional after troubleshooting
  • Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as required.

Experience and Skills:

Required Knowledge/Skills

  • Proven work experience as a Technical Support Engineer, Help Desk Technician or similar role.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Understanding of various technical equipment systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal.
  • Responsible for implementation of Department Design Standards
  • Manufacturing experience 
  • Fluent in English
  • Windows 7, MS-Office, MS Word, MS Excel, CAD. SAP a plus
  • Experience with hardware problem diagnosis, LAN connectivity support, MindSight appliance and hosted applications support, FACET hardware, PLC’s, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, EMS, and elearning support

Education

  • Associates degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Technical equivalent, or professional certifications
