Job Description:

  • Reads and interprets engineering design or production drawings, catalogues, or other pertinent data and specifications in order to determine inspection and test criteria or methods to assure conformance to applicable specifications and requirements.
  • Functionally and visually inspects and tests product for proper design and operation using pneumatic service units, fittings, valves, valve terminals, cylinders, accessories, electric motors, drives & components, programmable logic controllers, sensors, test fixtures, test software and other required equipment.
  • Inspects, verifies, and records accuracy of measurements and devices using inspection and measuring tools such as vernier calipers, height gages, surface plates, micrometers, tape measures, torque wrenches, torque analyzers, hardness testers, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, plug gages, thread rings, gage blocks, profile-meters, flow-meters, optical comparators, coordinate measuring machines and other required inspection measuring and test equipment.
  • Acts as Quality Assurance representative with Festo internal departments on new product developments and product failures.  Supports the QA inspectors as necessary.
  • Performs timely failure analysis investigations of customer returned material to determine probable causes or modes of failure.  Coordinates and communicates with Festo-AG to resolve quality complaints from interested parties.
  • Supports failure modes effects analysis activities for new product developments, and supports external supplier selection and evaluation activities including performance ratings.   Participates in the Supplier Rating System (SRS) as an auditor evaluating the effective implementation of corrective / preventative actions for previously defective incoming material.
  • Prepares quality system documents including operating procedures, work instructions, charts, visual aids, inspection drawings and reports.
  •  Performs Internal Quality Auditor duties for the ISO 9001 based Quality Management System (QMS).
  •  Identifies negative quality trends and initiates appropriate corrective/preventative actions.
  • Assures a timely response and feedback to the resolution of quality issues to management.
  •  Plans, coordinates, and conducts internal audits of internal departments.  Supports Festo-AG's corporate audits, certification audits.
  •  Additional work hours in excess of normal business hours may be necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities. This includes extra efforts required for infrequent or short duration.
  •  Travel may be required via any mode of transportation as determined by Company for business reasons such as, but not limited to, skill development, training, or a company business event.  This would include travel to Festo-AG Corporate Headquarters/Regional (field) offices. 

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Technical degree from four-year college or university; or minimum four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Mechanical Engineering a Plus.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical information. Ability to concisely write and present information that conforms to prescribed company style and format to company management and/or peers.
  • Quality Assurance Databases (IRAD, Corrective action Requests, ICM+, Failure Analysis, SRS, Supplier rating system) -prior experience/on the job training/ internal workshops offered. Related Quality System Procedures.
  • Computer proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs required. Familiarity with Auto Cad, ISO 9001:2015 requirements and Festo product preferred. Understanding of mechanical and electrical principles and equipment / parts. Working knowledge of Lean principles and six sigma are preferred.
