Summary of job contents
As a Technical Training Professional, you will be a key contributor to helping reinvent productivity and driving personal improvement in development and delivery of automation technology courses, directed primarily to Festo’s industrial customer base. Curriculum development requires the adaptation of Festo Didactic’s standard course-ware to the specific needs of a customer’s particular production process. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in customer facing roles, be a deep subject matter expert, capable of delivering standard courses as well as custom courses. In addition, installation of Didactic training equipment at industrial and educational customers is required, including train the trainer courses, to educate customer trainers and school faculty how to use this equipment to teach automation technology.


Key Accountabilities
Principal duties of a Festo Didactic - Technical Training Manager

  • Drive the technical decision at the customer to buy, architect, develop or adopt their solution based on Festo offerings
  • Provide pre-sales technical support to enable customers and partners enroll in to Festo training offerings
  • Deliver Festo Didactic automation technology courses to teach industrial customer employees basic and advanced principles of automation technology including, but not limited to fluid power, automation controls, sensor technology, robotics technology, principles of process automation, air preparation and safety in automation systems.
  • Develop custom curriculum to fulfill training needs specific to a customer’s factory automation system. This curriculum can be developed from existing Festo Didactic courseware, and/or from requirements as specified by the customer.
  • Develop and administer appropriate pre and post assessment tools to industrial customers. Working within established Festo procedures, the pre-assessment process will act as a guide for developing the appropriate course for a specific customer. Using the results of this assessment, the candidate must be able to produce a report demonstrating potential ROI to the customer, based on the proposed learning outcomes. Similarly, the post assessment results should be used to demonstrate enhanced performance.
  • Commissioning/installation of Festo Didactic training hardware at industrial and educational customers. Commissioning of hardware includes train the trainer training of customer employees/faculty on the the use of said equipment in teaching automation technology.
  • Preparing and delivering sales and technical presentations of Festo Didactic training solutions, usually in conjunction with local Festo Sales representatives.
  • Preparing training solution proposals to be delivered to customers as requested in a professional and timely manner.
  • Administer Festo’s e-learning platform for industrial customers. This will include the creation and maintenance of new customers, as well as the maintenance of various instructor and student profiles within the system. This employee will also be required to provide proactive and reactive support to customers with regard to technical or content related issues.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as required.

Core dimensions

  • Subject matter expert in automation technology including fluid power and automation controls.
  • Knowledge of automation technology as applied in actual industrial applications in various industries, and may include food & packaging, bio-medical, semiconductor and process automation.
  • Ability to develop curriculum suitable to teach automation technology in an industrial setting and an educational environment, at the high school and college levels.
  • Expert training skills including excellent verbal and written communications skills, public speaking and presentations skills, and he ability to teach complex automation principles in a clear, concise and understandable manner.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, easily engaging people, in small intimate settings, and with large numbers of individuals in large venues.

Skills & Education:

Language: English fluent, Spanish is a plus

Computer Skills: MS-Office
Education: Associates Degree/ Bachelors preferred
Experience: At least 2 years in automation technology & related subjects is required
Special experience in a particular industry segment: Fluid power, automation controls and sensor technology, robotics technology electrical/electronic technology required
Special experience in a particular function: Excellent oral & written communication skills; public speaking & presentations skills.
