Job Description:

  • Coordinate the activities of personnel in the department to ensure a balanced and predictable flow of materials, components and sub-assemblies, into Festo CS in order to ensure customer orders are shipped on time. 
  • Coordinate with external suppliers, internal FESTO distribution, Quality and Purchasing to create viable, predictable production and delivery schedules
  • Create and/or modify Stock/Inventory programs in compliance with Festo policies and while optimizing production and material planning for CS Livermore. 
  • Plans and establishes material availability and flow in support of production schedules. Monitors material and labor exceptions to drive internal operational performance and overall value-chain excellence
  • Collaborates with Operations,  Production, Quality and Purchasing leadership within CS, to establish, monitor and refine over time, KPIs as a means of instilling continuous improvement and accountability within the organization
  • Execute material and production order processing from order creation, closing of sub-contract and internal production orders, thru logistics and acceptance by the customer.
  • The Master Planner job profile/role may cover a range of accountabilities to include Individual Contributor, Program Manager, or Team Leader.
  • Analyzes and modifies planning inputs to drive outputs such as schedules, to ensure overall CS operational execution satisfies customer orders, forecasts and other critical considerations – at a frequency which may change over time, but must always be a “step ahead“ by staying informed of business developments, contributing to management reviews and meetings, and through connections with the broader Festo US/NAFTA communities.
  • Participates in New Product Introduction, including to coordinate efforts of various departments in introducing new products to the market place.
  • Participates in Material Review Board to determine the disposition of questionable product.
  • Analyze and may modify reorder points/safety stock levels in the material master on a routine basis citing past activity or forecasts.
  • Analyze commodities utilizing information submitted by Festo AG and inform Operations Management of obsolete product for disposition and their subsequent replacement.
  • Prepares and submits routine reports on obsolete and excess inventory in order to optimize inventory performance and product availability. May make recommendations for disposition to CS Operations/CS Management
  • Identifies critical customer requirements to be expedited by the Logistics Department to ensure accelerated shipments are processed accordingly.
  • Sets up and maintains the product Item Master, Bill of Materials and Planning Codes based on organization policy within Festo and/or Festo CS.
  • Reviews available reports  to monitor day to day activity and identifies issues that must be addressed for commodities they are responsible to maintain.
  • Develop and optimize VMI and FMI programs, to ensure nimble and disciplined inventory positions based on product/industry/customer developments.
  • CS-Operations execution is tied to a viable, strong and credible planning and scheduling function, either via teams or individuals (dependant on site/org size). As such, many KPIs for production, quality and logistics are directly associated with Master Planning inputs and outputs.
  • KPI development and healthy/progressive reporting of KPIs, and optimization of them over time, are required  to drive operational excellence and a culture of continuous improvement based on data/objective measures.

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or Technical degree plus 10  years related experience and /or training. or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years, preferably including 5 years in a centralized planning structure supporting multiple sites in North America and/or NA plus Europe or NA plus Asia.
  • Highly-engineered, low-volume production/material planning  for organizations operating in the range of $30m to $200m annually.
  • Familiar with electronics/electrical and materials specifications, including applicable DIN, MIL & ANSI standards. 
  • Proficient in MS Office and SAP
